Can I rent a ShahGo car if I deliver in Athens?
Yes, and we want to be honest about the distance. Our only pickup point is in Lawrenceville, roughly 40 to 45 miles from Athens. The good part is that the route is simple: GA-316 connects the two cities almost directly, and the drive commonly takes 50 to 60 minutes.
You make that trip to pick up the car and for routine maintenance. Miles are unlimited, so once you have the keys you can deliver across Athens all week without counting miles.
We rent 2011 to 2013 Toyota Corollas, Camrys and Priuses and Honda Civics and Accords, chosen to keep fuel costs low. The first cars are ready in January 2027, and applications are open now.
Why is Athens a strong delivery market?
Athens is home to the University of Georgia, and the student population shapes much of the demand.
- The University of Georgia campus and surrounding student housing commonly produce steady food orders, including late at night.
- Downtown Athens, right next to campus, is packed with restaurants, bars and cafés, so many pickups sit within a few blocks.
- Large apartment complexes around town house thousands of students and young professionals.
- The Athens Perimeter (Loop 10) circles the city and makes it quick to move between neighborhoods and shopping areas.
- Game days at Sanford Stadium bring huge crowds to town in the fall.
What delivery tips work in Athens?
When are orders busiest?
Late evenings are commonly strong during the school year, and dinner is busy most days. Orders often drop during summer and school breaks, when many students leave town, so plan for a slower season.
What about game days?
UGA home football games bring heavy traffic, road closures and crowded parking near campus and downtown. Orders can spike, but getting around is slow. Many drivers work the outer neighborhoods on game days and avoid the stadium area.
How do I handle campus and apartment deliveries?
Student housing often has many buildings, gates and confusing layouts. Ask for building numbers and gate codes in the app chat, and agree on a meeting spot for residence halls.
Any downtown parking tips?
Downtown parking is tight at night. Use short-term spaces or nearby decks and follow posted signs to avoid tickets.
How does pickup work?
Pickup is at 3545 Cruse Rd NW, Ste 309A, Lawrenceville, GA 30044 in Lawrenceville. Book a time, bring your documents and plan about an hour each way on GA-316. We walk the car with you, and you can be delivering in Athens the same day. Routine maintenance happens at the same office, and we schedule it ahead so trips stay few.
How much does it cost?
The rate is $450/week + tax, with insurance, routine maintenance and unlimited miles included. You pay for gas. There is a $500 refundable deposit and a 2-week minimum. Compare models on our cars page.
Who can rent?
You must be 25+, have held a license for 2+ years, have a clean record and an active delivery-app account. Please include a 7-year driving record (MVR) with your application. Our cars are dedicated to food, grocery and package delivery, which keeps them reliable for every renter, so paid passenger rides on Uber or Lyft are not allowed. That also means no ride-hailing on game days. Read the requirements.
